The enemy did not open fire for the past 24 hours. Nevertheless, the enemy is ignoring the ban on deployment of military equipment in populated localities and their vicinity, as well as laying minefields in agricultural lands, thereby violating the humanitarian law and endangering the lives and health of civilians, spokesman for the DPR People’s Militia Directorate Colonel Eduard Basurin reported during the briefing in Donetsk on August 5.

“Over the past 24 hours, three BMPs have been spotted in a residential yard in Chermalyk, two BMPs at a separate house in Ozeryanovka, two BMPs in Vozdvizhenka and one BMP in a residential yard in Novomikhaylovka,” Eduard Basurin said.

The colonel also stressed that taking advantage of the armistice, the enemy continues sowing mines randomly. Sappers from the 36th brigade planted 13 anti-tank mines in the Vodyanoye area.

Engineering works with the use of explosives were spotted twice at positions of the 35th brigade in the area of Shumy.

In addition, the 57th, 54th, 79th and 53rd brigades in Avdeyevka, Krasnogorovka, Maryinka and Pishchevik were carrying out engineering works and reinforcing their positions.

“We once again declare that the DPR People’s Militia stands ready to respond adequately in case of enemy aggression,” Eduard Basurin stated.
