Along with the attacks, Ukrainian armed forces are neglecting the implementation of the full range of additional measures for the enhancement and control of the ceasefire regime agreed and signed by representatives of the Ukrainian party to the Contact Group, spokesman for the DPR People’s Militia Directorate Eduard Basurin reported during the briefing on August 7.

The enemy continues to violate the terms of the ceasefire with regard to the ban on deployment of weapons and equipment in populated localities they control, near residential houses and civil infrastructure facilities. The OSCE SMM confirms that the armed forces of Ukraine deployed 42 units of armament in 20 populated localities this week, including BMPs, APCs, mortars and anti-aircraft guns.

At the same time, the AFU continue to reinforce their forward positions. This week, our lookouts registered eighteen cases when militants from the 57th, 54th, 79th, 53rd and 35rd brigades were carrying out engineering works with the use of explosive devices to retrofit their  positions in the areas of Starognatovka, Novoluganskoe, Vodyanoe, Peski, Pischevik, Shumy, Opytnoye, Novotroitskoye, Troitskoe, Avdeyevka, Krasnogorovka and Maryinka.

In order to prevent the OSCE Mission from discovering locations of military equipment, engineering works and terrain mining in the areas of responsibility of the 35th, 36th, 54th and 53rd brigades, the enemy was using EW means against drones of the OSCE SMM.

In particular, flying squads from the 306th and 20th separate EW battalions, as well as EW companies from the 35th and 36th marine brigades, were jamming the flight control and navigation channels of OSCE SMM UAVs in the areas of Konstantinovka, Verkhnetoretskoye, Lebedinskoye, Novogrigorovka, Vodyanoye and Granitnoye.

Taking advantage of the armistice, the armed groups are indiscriminately mining the territory. The enemy planted a total of 427 anti-tank mines (TM-62) this week, thereby mined an area of about 1,712 square meters in the vicinity of Vodyanoye and Mayorsk.

At the same time, militants from the 35th and 36th brigades used UAVs absolutely openly for spying on OSCE monitors in the areas of Lebedinskoye, Shumy and Zaytsevo (northern), while militants from the 54 brigade in the area of Kamenka attempted to shot down an OSCE drone with small arms.

The above facts endanger the security and safety of civilians, international monitors and jeopardize the effective truce. We call on the international monitors to ensure that the Ukrainian side complies with the requirements of the agreements they have signed.
