The process of mass vaccination against the coronavirus infection is beginning in the Donetsk People’s Republic, Head of the DPR Denis Pushilin announced on January 31. The first batch of the Russian vaccine Sputnik V arrived at the warehouse of the Ministry of Health the day before, on January 30, 2021, at 23:00, according to the press service of the Administration of the Head of the DPR.

“The vaccination begins, in fact, with the delivery of the vaccine to the Donetsk People’s Republic from Russia. This process is long-awaited for us, because the coronavirus infection is spreading. We now consider the mass vaccination a solution to this problem,” the Head of State stressed during the meeting with journalists.

He also recalled that a lot of preparatory work had been done by that time, and the categories of citizens to be vaccinated in the first place had been determined.

“Categories of citizens have already been determined, lists have been drawn up. The priority is given to medical workers, educational sphere, social workers and those institutions that come into contact with a large number of people,” Denis Pushilin noted.

Denis Pushilin said that vaccine batches will be delivered on a regular basis in accordance with the agreements between the DPR Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation. He thanked Russia for the support and informed about the intention to get vaccinated in the nearest future.

The batch of vaccines delivered to the Republic has been taken to primary healthcare centers in Donetsk, and on Monday, February 1, the vaccination campaign will begin, Acting Minister of Health Alexander Oprishchenko told.

“Last night the first batch of COVID-19 vaccine, Sputnik V, arrived in the Donetsk People’s Republic. Now the vaccine has been distributed at the special medical supply base, and today we will deliver it to vaccination rooms of those primary healthcare centers where the vaccine will be administered. Let me remind you that there are 38 of them in the Republic. But, given that the batch is limited, we decided to distribute it among 10 vaccination rooms. The vaccination campaign begins tomorrow at three o’clock in the afternoon,” Alexander Oprishchenko said.

He added that vaccinated citizens will be monitored by employees of primary health care centers.
