Today, on December 14, Comprehensive Children’s and Youth Sports School 5 of Donetsk hosted an international training and certification workshop in karate, featuring Tanaka Takenori, the Vice-President of the international Japan Karate Association.
“Dear athletes and guests, today in Donetsk we are having a karate celebration. There is a saying that “friend in need is a friend indeed”, that is why we are pleased to realize that our old friends Tanaka Takenori and Sensei Dolgov are here with us today, in these hard times. On behalf of the entire sports community of the Donetsk People’s Republic, I would like to express my gratitude to our guests for the fact that they have found an opportunity to come to us despite everything,” Alexander Gromakov said.
In turn, Tanaka Takenori addressed the audience.
“I welcome you all. I have not been to Donetsk for five years, although I had been here every year since 1992. Unfortunately, during the last six years I could not come. Many people tried to talk me out of it, to make difficulties. Knowing everything that is going on here, I couldn’t stay away. If a Japanese gives his word, he keeps it,” Tanaka Takenori addressed the athletes.
In turn, Alexey Dolgov stressed that the skill is passed on from heart to heart, from teacher to his apprentices through training, exercises, sweat and blood.
“You can become a master only by overcoming your own internal barriers on the way to perfection,” the president of the Russian Karate Association said.
150 fighters of Shotokan Karate, which is practiced in the Donetsk People’s Republic, participated in the event.
The international training and certification workshop in karate will last two days and will end with the certification of athletes.
