Over the past week, AFU militants violated the Complex of Additional Ceasefire Control Measures 43 times. In violation of Clause 2 of the Additional Measures, the enemy committed 20 combat provocations, Spokesman for the DPR PMD Colonel Eduard Basurin reported at the briefing on December 18. The enemy used 120mm and 82mm mortars, various grenade launchers and small arms to attack the following populated localities: Aleksandrovka. Leninskoye, Vesyoloye, Kominternovo, Mineralnoye, Novaya Tavriya, Yakovlevka, the village of Mine 6/7 in Gorlovka and the village of Trudovskaya Mine in Donetsk.
“The fact that Ukrainian militants are stepping up activities on changing the initial position of their units at the line of contact requires particular attention. The Ukrainian side is openly violating Clause 1 of the Package of Additional Measures for the Enhancement and Control of the Ceasefire. Since the ceasefire came in force on July 27 of this year, we have registered more than 109 cases of enemy engineer work,” Eduard Basurin reported.
  • At the Gorlovka front, Ukrainian militants from the 35th AFU separate marine brigade carried out engineer work 38 times to retrofit their positions. The largest number of violations was registered in the Shumv area, where DPR monitors from the JCCC registered 23 cases of enemy engineer work in the immediate vicinity of the Seversky Donets-Donbass water main, damage to which can result in a humanitarian disaster.
  • At the Donetsk front, militants from the 72nd, 56th and 79th AFU brigades carried out fortification work 38 times. Militants from the 23rd and 37th battalions of the 56th AFU motorized infantry brigade systematically commit violations in the areas of Opytnoye and Peski, where positions were retrofitted 10 and 19 times, respectively.
  • At the Mariupol front, militants from the 53rd and 36th AFU brigades carried out fortification work 33 times to retrofit their positions. Violations were registered most frequently (23 times) at positions of militants from the 36th AFU brigade’s marine battalion in the Vodyanoye area.
“The systematic conduct of engineer work by the armed forces of Ukraine along the entire line of contact demonstrates the unwillingness of Ukrainian commanders to comply with the truce, whose terms are aimed at stabilizing the situation. We remind the Ukrainian command that the conduct of the work is a gross violation of Clause 1 of the Additional Ceasefire Control Measures, which also provide for proceedings against officials who let these violations be carried out,” Eduard Basurin stressed.
We call on the OSCE to publicly disclose and condemn the actions of Ukrainian armed forces. The Ukrainian command continues to deploy weapons and military equipment in the Joint Forces Operation zone directly in populated localities and near social facilities. During the week, OSCE monitors registered the deployment of 24 units of heavy armament and military equipment of the Vostok Task Force.
